1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: We may collect non-personally identifiable information about your interactions with our website, such as the total number of letters generated (aggregated statistics), page views, and time spent on the site. This data helps us understand service usage and improve our offerings.
- Payment Information (via Stripe): All payment transactions are processed through Stripe. We do NOT directly collect or store your sensitive financial information (e.g., credit card numbers, billing addresses). Stripe handles all payment processing, and your financial data is subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy. We receive transaction confirmations and subscription status updates from Stripe to manage your account and credits.
- Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We use session-based cookies primarily for maintaining your login state. These cookies are essential for the functionality of the service and are not used for extensive tracking.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To Provide and Operate Our Services: This includes enabling you to sign in, generate goodwill letters, track your credits, and manage your subscriptions.
- Letter Generation: The full name, reason for late payment, and creditor information you provide are sent to an AI model (OpenAI's API) to generate the letter.
- Account Management: To manage your user account, track your credit balance, and administer subscriptions.
- Service Improvement: To analyze aggregated usage patterns and improve the functionality, performance, and user experience of SecondChanceLetter.xyz.
- Communication: To send you transactional emails related to your account, credits, or subscriptions (e.g., payment confirmations). We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt-in.
- Security and Fraud Prevention: To protect the security and integrity of our website and to prevent fraudulent activities.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.
3. How We Share Your Information
Your information is shared only under specific, limited circumstances and with carefully selected, trusted third-party partners:
- AI Model (OpenAI): The specific input you provide for letter generation (your full name, reason for late payment, creditor name, and CEO name/email) is sent to OpenAI's API to generate the letter. Crucially, the generated letter content itself is NOT stored by SecondChanceLetter.xyz after it is delivered to you. OpenAI's data usage policies apply to the data sent to their API.
- Payment Processor (Stripe): Your payment information is directly collected and processed by Stripe. We do not store this sensitive financial data. Stripe shares transaction details and subscription status with us for account management.
- Authentication (Google): We use Google Sign-in for user authentication. When you log in, Google shares your Google ID, display name, and email with us.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order or government agency request).
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice on our website of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.
We will NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.
4. Data Retention
- Generated Letter Content: As stated in our Terms and Conditions, generated letters are NOT stored on our servers. The content you input for generation is processed in real-time by the AI model and then provided to you. It is not retained in our databases.
- Account Information: We retain your account information (Google ID, name, email, credit balance, subscription status, Stripe Customer ID) for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services and comply with our legal obligations.
- Usage Data: Aggregated and anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.
